Fashion Inspiration

Well whadaya know...
Amber is back!

I thought I'd share some of my inspiration with ya. Lately, I haven't at all been inspired to create...anything! Even my wardrobe. But I want to start again!
Here's some of what's inspired me:

It's a little bold, but I toooootally would wear this! Plus, I'm lovin the peacock feather on the skirt.
To me, this speaks wild adventure! She looks like she's about to totally go on an adventure. Maybe a new expedition to France? Or..Portugal? Lovin' the long hair!

Now this is totally boho right here! Love this style. Especially the jewelry.

Yes, sadly that is all. But which one is your favorite? I also love that they are modest.
p.s. no clue where I got these pictures but I don't claim them to be mine!!

Gift ideas!

I was so excited when I finally figured out (with prayer!) what I was going to get people for Christmas.

I know Christmas is next week, but I thought I'd do a last minute list of things you can do. They're a mix of what I'm doing & just raw ideas:

-Root beer bottle cap picture magnets. (Tutorial coming soon!) for the one who loves keeping pictures on the fridge.
-A box of goodies -- you can do a theme. If someone likes beauty products, then that's pretty self explanitory. Maybe they love to write letters, you could give them a cutely decorated box with new stationary.
-A jar of nuts & chocolate chips for the late night snacker (ahem..a.k.a. my Mom =)
-For the one who loves health food -- you could get them a basket of fresh pomagranets, lemons, avocados, or whatever!
-You could do a theme of their favorite subject:
For the one who loves science, buy some cool rocks & maybe a science book about stars & planets.
For the one who loves history -- Do some research! Maybe they love learning about American heros. Get them books on the subject. Maybe they like geography & the history of places. Get them a wall map or a globe.
For the one who loves english -- Maybe its writing. Buy them a journal & some neat pens. Maybe they love the old English.....books!
For the one who love math...(um...yeah) -- maybe a new calculator? haha, be creative with that one!

-Homemade goodies! Bake, bake, bake! And don't forget the cute boxes, jars, & tags =)
-For the one who love to paint -- get them a box or basket of art goodies. They have mini canvases at craft stores!

I understand that a lot of us are on a tight budget & can't be buying all this great suff! I know I can't. But hopefully this helped you sprout ideas. If you can't buy that math wiz a new calculator, buy or make them a pencil case for all those mathamatical pencils!
If you can't be investing in globes & wall maps, then (if you're up for the challenge) make a poster of a certain place (state, country, city, etc) and research that place. Draw or paint it on & write some neat facts. It can be a wall hanging or something!

I really hope this helped!
Stay tuned for a really yummy Christmas recipe & a tutorial =)

Decorating With Nature!

I'm definitely a nature gal, & now I am happy to say that I think I'll be decorating the house with it!
Our Christmas tree is sorta woodsy with crannberries, pine cones & fake snow.
I thought that would be a great theme for this years' decorations.
Pine cones, rocks, leaves, branches, cinnamon sticks -- it's all included!

Here are a few inspiration photos (not mine):

(I think that's rice!)
Here are some ideas I came up with:
(Go outside & pick up some earthy things. Even apartments have rocks & trees you can get things from.)

Clip the ends of dead branches, & put them in a vase or pot.

Pick up some mini vases or glasses (even use jam jars!) at the Dollar Store or a craft store, & fill with rocks, pine cones, needles of the pines, or leaves.

Put some pine cones or these big woody chips in a basket & add a candle in the middle. I also added some fake cranberry stick things!

I also added some pine cones to this!

Glue rocks together in the form of a circle & place a tea light candle in it! The hot glue I used dried quick so hurry! Also, be careful when handling it, as it tends to fall apart easily =)

My work station =)

Sorry for the bad pictures!
Stay tuned for some more homemade remedies!

Moon Watcher

Okay, so, I'm totally wishing I had a better camera & a scanner, but this will just have to do :)
I got inspired, when the other night, I saw the moon rising over some clouds late in the night.
Yeah, I consider myself a moon watcher, a star gazer, an ocean viewer.
Here's one of the latest projects:

Art & Trees. But mostly art.

Wow, I love to be inspired!
Lately it's like my mind has taken on a new meaning of it, & of beauty. On our drive home this evening, I got to sit & discover little details along the long hidden roads. We though "Should we go through the free way, or the quite cottage housed way?" I'm sure you guess we took the latter.
I've been inspired by the trees. Especially the large ones. And oh! The Willows!
There is also a long narrow road when you look to the side, and along that narrow road are tall big trees on both sides. There are at least 10 trees on each side, lined up perfectly. Hopefully I'll get a picture soon!
And art has been my new thing.
Art like this, I've been lovin':

All of her work can be purchased here, or read upon here, or watched here. [Which I recommend watching because she's quite funny]

So me & Mom have boughten (ok, not a word) paints & brushes, & canvases, & I love it!
So yeah, I can get pretty inspired.
Which brings me to my other topic! I think I want to be an art teacher. I want to inspire the little ones (which I know you don't need to become a teacher to do that) but I love art! Of all kinds! And I guess it's a good dream for me.
So tell me, what inspires you?

P.S. If you like the art above, I REALLY recommend visiting her sites. Especially her videos! She's a doll. [And she makes them too ;]
And I'll leave you with one last picture :)

Good night, Juliet

It started off with a full page drawing.
And when I realized I didn't know how to properly draw a full body, I settled for the face.
So I cut her in half,
Making sure to cut out her long braid too,
added a designed paper sky & moon, dotted the night sky with stars,
put in some designed paper mountains,
& glued on some fake leaves.
 And voila!

 There she is!

I like drawing faces more than anything else.
& I learned how to draw that braid from this:
[I think I found it on Google]

P.S. Don't forget to head to Mod Style Lounge & vote for your favorite fashions!
[Hope ya don't think I was hinting, hehe]

Who says you can't use a cute pot holder?

I found these vintage looking pot holders at the dollar store & guess what I made?
A wallet! Yay!
I hand sewed it, which will explain the slight sloppiness.

Glory be to Him.

Wondrous Butterfly.

I found these adorable butterflies for decoration at Michael's & found a place for them in my room!
I have this little frame thing from Chronicles Bookstore that hangs on the wall & that has Psalm 19:14 on it.

Recently I've been having a 'thing' for butterflies. And I almost forgot, yesterday me & my mom saw a black widow. Eeek!
But, back to butterflies, I recently wrote a poem about them & thought I'd share:

Wonderous Butterfly.
Floating is my way around,
It's simply all I do.
Then on this day I heard a sound,
And saw a place that's new.

There I flew without a twitch,
My signs were surely one;
And then behold a twinkling light
My wondrous flight begun!

You could go here, to read more of my [sometimes meaningless] poems :)

How to make a hardcover mini art journal

I've been enjoying myself learning how to make journals! This is an amazing video on how to do so.

A few of my favorite things...

I was going through some saved pictures on my computer & thought I'd share my favorites! I hope they inspire you. I don't have all the links though--but I can tell you now that none of them are mine.
